Suspicion and fear begat a mutual xenophobia between the two groups. In the story, we follow some of these men and women. We experience how they are affected by their fears and how strange natural phenomena, are interpreted. The story depicts dramatic turns of events with religious elements. The female shaman, Wolf-Paw, is a crucial figure in the chain of events leading to the creation of The Clan of the Celestial Spear.
